How long is the practical driving test?

 

The UK practical driving test lasts around 40 minutes. During the test, you’ll complete general driving, one manoeuvre, independent driving and answer “show me, tell me” vehicle safety questions.How many minor faults are allowed in a driving test?

You can receive up to 15 minor faults and still pass. However, if you receive one serious fault (or dangerous fault), you will fail.

Manual lessons give you the flexibility to drive both manual and automatic cars once you pass. Automatic lessons are often quicker to learn and can reduce early stress, as there’s no clutch or gear changes to manage. If you're unsure which option is best for you, JDS Driver Training can advise based on your goals and confidence level.What happens if I fail my driving test?If you don’t pass, you can rebook your test after 10 working days. We’ll review your feedback sheet, focus on the areas that caused issues, and ensure you’re fully prepared for your next attempt.
